Are you weary? I don’t just mean tired. I mean bone-tired, worn out. Are you mentally drained? Physically exhausted? Emotionally spent? If so, this message is for you.
Life can be very hard sometimes. Circumstances and certain people can suck the life blood out of you. Just getting up each day and plodding through the impossible task list with no end in sight can be burdensome. Sometimes people motivated by their own vindictive, selfish agendas can be overwhelmingly hurtful. You may be dealing with some form of grief either from losing a loved one or because of loss of the ideal you had in mind for your life. Maybe your biggest struggle right now is medical (for you or a loved one) or financial.
We want you to know that we see you. We are going to take a moment to sit right there with you in that agony and pain. For just a little while, we are holding your hand, putting our arm around your shoulder, and silently just “being” with you. We acknowledge that the anguish is real, your emotions are real, your mental weariness is real, your body is worn out.
It is often all TOO much.
And yet. All is not lost.
Really.
Weary one – there is hope. There is always hope.
This is the light at the end of the tunnel.
When we find ourselves where you are in your pain right now, we have learned over time to surrender…to lean into, to depend on the Creator of the universe. His promises are true and He is faithful. We know this because we have experienced this. He cares specifically about your situation. He loves you beyond anything you can imagine. Our prayer is that you will see the Truth of who He is. Our prayer is that you will feel and know the sacrificial love He has for you. Our prayer is that in those dark clouds of yours, you will begin to see the light. There are silver linings. In the midst of all of the moments of agony, pain, despair, and sheer exhaustion, there is something and someone bigger. There is hope. We are praying that you begin to feel that sense of expectancy. That you will see a glimpse of Someone you can put your faith in.
We encourage you to read through the verses below. Take time to read each word. Pray that God will fill you with His Spirit so that you will know the truth each passage brings. Your circumstances may not change and there still may be people who get under your skin, but you don’t have to deal with them alone.
We have provided three different translations of the Bible for each verse so that the words can permeate your feelings and your thinking. Let the words wash over your spirit.
Jeremiah 29:11-13
NIV: 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
NLT: 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
CSB: 11 For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 You will call to me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.
Romans 5:2-5
NIV: 2 Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
3 endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
NLT: 2 Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
CSB: Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 We have also obtained access through him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also boast in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, 4 endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope. 5 This hope will not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Romans 15:13
NIV: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
NLT: I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
CSB: I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Psalm 27:13-14
NIV: 13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
NLT: 13 Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. 14 Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
CSB: 13 I am certain that I will see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart be courageous. Wait for the Lord.
We pray for you. We ask God to open your mind, your eyes, your ears, and your heart to His message of hope. You are not alone.
You are loved,
Tom and Julie
