April 21-23 – Disability and the Church Conference
We are, once again, speaking at Disability and the Church. The location this year is at McLean Bible Church in northern Virginia – near Washington DC.
Amy is doing a ten-minute quicktake:
“Beyond Limitation: Activating Gifts in the Disability Community,” will focus on every person—regardless of ability—is a masterpiece of God’s design, gifted for His purpose. Yet, it can be challenging to see how those gifts translate into active ministry roles. Stop searching for what’s missing and start seeing what’s possible. We’ll explore practical ways to reframe your perspective, identify overlooked talents, and create a ministry environment where every ability is celebrated and put to use.
All three of us as Champions4Parents are doing a breakout session:
“The Whole Picture: Integrating Disability Ministry into the Fabric of Church Life,” will invite you to nurture and shepherd “Team Disability Ministry” in your church. God has designed this team by gifting and equipping each member with a unique piece of the puzzle. Who are the members? The members of this team are individuals with disabilities, parents, caregivers, and ministry leaders. The goal is that people with disabilities and their parents and caregivers are fully grafted into body life. This is church life. Join us as we share five practical, doable, and proven action steps your team can begin implementing right away to move your ministry from vision to full-body inclusion.

April 30, 2026 – World Help
Approximately every six weeks, we gather with adult friends with disabilities from our church to serve at World Help. We all have a need to gather for community and to serve others. This event gives the friends with disabilities, their parents/caregivers, and their leaders the joy of doing this together.

June 25-26 -Special Education Summit – Hickory, North Carolina
At the last minute last year we found out about the Special Education Summit. We jumped on the registration, made the trip, and are so happy we did. It was excellent.
“The Special Education Summit aims to minister to families of individuals living with disability, as well as those that educate and serve them through the local church and school. The sessions provide spiritual insight and practical help for fulfilling God’s call to reach exceptional families.
Registration for the 2026 Special Education Summit will open in March. For more information, please contact Sara Bookout at sara.bookout@tcshickory.org.”
